  • Georgia Green Party condemns corruption of Biden Administration and State Department to overturn the democratic will of the citizens of Pakistan

    IDB #2022-5:3
    as adopted, April 17 th , 2022

    A Resolution of the
    Coordinating Committee of the
    Georgia Green Party

Whereas, in the early morning hours of Saturday, April 9th, 2022, Pakistan’s National Assembly in Islamabad, adopted with a narrow majority, a motion expressing no-confidence in the Coalition government led by Prime Minister Imran Khan; and

Whereas, as a result of this vote, Imran Khan lost his seat as Prime Minister and caused to be scheduled for the following Tuesday, an parliamentary election to name a new Prime Minister; and

Whereas, it was broadly speculated that Shebaz Sharif was expected to assume the role as the Prime Minister; and

Whereas, Sharif is the younger brother of a former Prime Minister of Pakistan prohibited by judicial order from assuming political office due to his past convictions for public corruption; and

Whereas, Khan’s Coalition government consistently pursued foreign policies seeking independence from the Washingon Consensus of imperial agression around the world, refusing the use of Pakistan bases for US CIA operations in Afhanistan and seeking closer trade relationships with China and Russia; and

Whereas, in the midst of the Ramadan fast, millions of supporters rallied and marched in cities, large and small, across the South Asian nation; and

Whereas, it is common knowledge among Pakistanis, though under reported in the Western media, that:

    • members of the coalition organizing the vote of no-confidence, including specifically Shebaz Sharif, were facing imminent corruption convictions in prosecutions now largely suspended following the ouster of Prime Minister Khan;
    • the ascendacy of Shebaz Sharif as Prime Minister provides him immunity, as a matter of law, from prosecution for the charges he faced until his election;
    • that the Biden Administration had used economic incentives and heavy handed threats of U.S. retaliation in the event that the Parliament in Islamabad failed to overthrow the Khan Coalition government; and
    • that large sums of U.S. dollars and foreign policy incentives were used to grease palms to build support for the no-confidence vote.

Resolved, that the Georgia Green Party condemns as despicable, the actions of the Biden Administration to interfere in the democratically elected government of yet another sovereign nation.

Resolved, that the Georgia Green Party calls on Congress to investigate the corrupt practices of the Biden Administration and its State Department to overturn the democratic will of the citizens of Pakistan to form their own government and to pursue public policies in the best interests of the Pakistani people.

In the midst of the Ramadan fast, Imran Khan, Member of Parliament recently ousted
as Prime Minister in a U.S. State Department financed coup, has drawn crowds of millions
at political rallies held after taraweeh prayers observed late at night during the Muslim fast.

The state committee of the party has agreed to endorse the Black Liberation Movement Joint Statement on Ukraine

US War Record — 6m dead, no sanctions

    Ms. Binta:

Ramadan Mubarak. I pray this finds you and your family doing well.

It is my privilege to report, that on a conference call of its state committee, held this evening, April 2nd, 2022, the Georgia Green Party was agreed, without objection, and with one member standing aside, to endorse the Black Liberation Movement Joint Statement on Ukraine. We do so with a single caveat that our existing platform gives us no authority to speak in support of ‘universal childcare’, but that otherwise the foreign and domestic policy aims advanced by this statement are well within the framework of the existing policy of the party. Further, the historical analysis of this paper is in keeping with our perspective on the U.S. imperial aggression driving this conflict with potential nuclear consequences.

Thank you for this initiative by the NBLM National Unity Initiative.

In your publicity, please identify our support as:

    Georgia Green Party
Kweku Lumumba and David Josue, co-chairs

Please be sure to advise us of how we might support the promotion of this statement and the policy goals it outlines.

    Yours sincerely,
    — Hugh Esco, Secretary
    Georgia Green Party

Today those labeled by the FBI as Black Identity Extremists, face threats much as did yesterday’s Martin, Malcolm, and the political prisoners of the Black Liberation and Anti-War Movements.

You are invited to join a 90 minute webinar “Expose The Lies”’ on March 25th, 7:30 pm Eastern Daylight time., sponsored by the COINTELPRO Full Disclosure Coalition to pass HR-2998.

Millions of pages document the disruption, lies, murder, surveillance and harassment by U.S. law enforcement of Constitutionally protected community organizing. Like the murder of Breonna Taylor, a Louisville paramedic shot in her bed or George Floyd, a loving father in Minneapolis who could not breathe, none of us are safe.

  • Support HR-2998: Release the COINTELPRO Papers

The FBI’s COINTELPRO remains one of the darkest chapters in our nation’s history. For decades, the FBI carried out covert actions and dirty tricks against social movements. COINTELPRO (Counter Intelligence Program) included among the program’s many targets, organizations such as the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, the anti-Vietnam War movement, and individuals such as Martin Luther King, Jr, as well as local, state, and federal elected officials.

There’s a bill in Congress that will open up the FBI’s files.  HR 2998 would require full, public release of the FBI’s COINTELPRO files. This historic bill is an important step to reconciling with the FBI’s continued legacy of undemocratic abuses of power.

Please help us make history and expose FBI dirty tricks. Please write your member of Congress today to ask them to support this bill and to support efforts to broaden it to cover the full scope of FBI files.

    Email Script:

“I am a constituent. I want my representative to support HR 2998 that will require full, public release of the FBI’s COINTELPRO files and to support efforts to broaden it to cover the full scope of FBI files records subject to disclosure. This historic bill is an important step to reconciling with the FBI’s continued legacy of undemocratic abuses of power.”

  • National Black Caucus Supports Freedom Convoy and Black Truckers

The Green Party of the United States Black Caucus (GP-BC) has announced its support for the Freedom Convoy, an educational effort to help the public learn more about vaccine mandates and the best way to respond to government overreach.

“We are calling on all people to unite in solidarity.” says Philena Farley, National Media Co-Chair & Black Caucus Media Coordinator “The time to be divided is over. This is a time to stand together with our sisters and brothers, regardless of race or gender, in this struggle against tyranny. We are under attack by the corporate elites on every level of government. They are robbing us blind. The one thing the elites hate is unity among the working class because they thrive in dividing us by race, gender, politics, religion, class and more.”

Truckers against vaccine mandates is an international movement of citizens and truck drivers who are opposed to the forced use of government vaccines.  “Long-distance trucking has been part of my family history since 1975.” Black Caucus Co-Founder George Friday states in remembrance,  “My father was a long-distance trucker throughout my high school and college years and all of my brothers have also been truckers. Independence was the reason they chose that profession. A high amount of personal freedom and not too many interactions with racism or discrimination. They got to do things on their own terms and make their own decisions which is important for any of us.”

From Jamil Jivani  – debut in Newsweek – Stop Calling Truckers Racist –  to correct the record on the trucker convoy in Ottawa, Canada.

“We have no reason to believe the majority of truckers in the convoy are racist. In fact, appropriate for the month of February, the trucker convoy is actually a Black history moment.

Countless trucker convoy participants and supporters are Black. A popular Instagram account called “poc4freedomconvoy” (shorthand for People of Color for Freedom Convoy) with over 60,000 followers has documented the outpouring of support that the trucker convoy received from members of Black communities across Canada. The account’s first post is a picture of Chanceline Rukundo that reads, “I am Burundian/Canadian and I support the #freedomconvoy2022.”

This year’s Black History Month is a chance to see that Black people are not merely victims of history, but makers of it—exactly as Dr. Woodson intended. The trucker convoy is an example of Black people playing a meaningful role in shaping their countries. Don’t let liberal politicians or mainstream media corporations convince you of anything less.”

  • Georgia Green Party 2022 Nominating Convention, February 19th

Notice is given of, and Greens from across Georgia are urged to gather for, the 2022 Nominating Convention of the Georgia Green Party. We will convene on Saturday, February 19th, at 10am, with plans to adjourn at 4pm that afternoon. Greens from unorganized counties are urged to gather at 9:30 am to caucus to name their delegates to the state convention. This virtual event will be hosted on an online conferencing platform and pre-registration is required.

This meeting will consider nominations for partisan offices and endorsements for non-partisan offices, as well as proposed amendments to the state party platform.

While this convention will focus on nominations for publicly elected offices and work on our Platform; it has recently become our practice to hold a subsequent Convention to provide an opportunity for internal elections for our state committee and our Delegation on National Green Party Affairs.

Our Party has traditionally held its nominating convention on the first Saturday of June in each election year. But the 2017 session adopted HB-268 ignoring case law finding that an early qualifying deadline for emerging political parties is unconstitutional in order to align for the convenience of the office of the Secretary of State, the qualifying period for candidates of a political body (like the Green Party, who nominate by convention and petition) with the qualifying period for candidates of the political parties (Republicans and Democrats which nominate by Primary). This calendar change has cost our party 130 days or more for its candidate recruitment efforts. The officers of the Georgia Green Party welcome queries from Georgia attorneys willing to help us litigate this and other issues related to ballot access for Green Party candidates in Georgia.

Already, 2018 and 2020 state party nominee for the U.S. Congress in Georgia’s 8th Congressional District, Jimmy Cooper, has announced his intention to again seek the nomination of the Georgia Party for 2020. We are in communication with a handful of other possible candidates considering a run for partisan office in this election cycle. Party officers remain eager to speak with you about opportunities to run in this and subsequent election cycles for public office in your community as well.

    Coalition Launches Support for HR-2998
The COINTELPRO Bill would Compel Full Disclosure

(Washington D.C., January 17, 2022) On this King Day holiday, over 30 organizations and individuals announce the formation of a wide coalition to offer critical support for HR-2998, the COINTELPRO Full Disclosure Act.  The bill, introduced in the House by Representative Bobby Rush (D-Ill, 1st), in May 2021, has been co-signed by twenty-four members of Congress. The bill was assigned to the Committee on Oversight and Reform, and concurrently to the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure. Coalition partners will initially prioritize urging Congressional Representatives to join the list of cosponsors.

COINTELPRO refers to a directive of J. Edgar Hoover, who was the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)  from 1924 to1972. The program remained an active operation from 1957 to 1971.  As a 1967 memo put it, the program was intended “to expose, disrupt, misdirect, discredit, or otherwise neutralize the activities of Black nationalist, hate-type organizations and their groupings, their leadership, spokesmen, membership and supporters, and to counter their propensity for violence and civil disorder.

In practice, neither hate and violence nor even criminal activity were necessary to attract the attention of Hoover’s FBI.  This operation built on his work as an FBI agent dating back to the Palmer Raids during World War I and the persecution of the United Negro Improvement Association, including the deportation of its leader, Marcus Garvey, whom Hoover would later acknowledge had broken no federal laws.  Hoover had spent his early days at the Bureau building an index of community organizers who opposed US foreign and domestic policies.

“COINTELPRO utilized unconstitutional tactics to ‘neutralize’ the ‘rise of a black messiah’ among black community organizers, whom they framed as threats.  History has already revealed the involvement of Federal and local law enforcement agencies in the assassination of leaders like Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr. and Al Hajj Malik Al Shabazz (Malcolm X) and many others,” stated Bilal Sunni-Ali, representative of the coalition.

Many coalition partners are engaged in active work seeking new trials and related judicial or executive efforts to free inmates they assert were wrongfully convicted as a result of COINTELPRO operations by Federal, State and local law enforcement.  In spite of its assertions to the contrary, the United States has a long history of detaining political prisoners, starting years before it incarcerated Reverend King for his political beliefs.

Others point to ongoing involvement of Federal Law Enforcement targeting mentally and emotionally vulnerable members of the Muslim community who (according to a 2014 report published by Human Rights Watch) “would never have committed a crime if not for law enforcement encouraging, pressuring, and sometimes paying them to commit terrorist acts.”  Also of concern has been the FBI Counter-Terrorism program’s focus on what they characterize as a “Black Identity Extremism movement”, as justification to surveil and intimidate community organizers for their activism with the Black Lives Matter movement.

“The FBI with COINTELPRO established a blueprint for government surveillance and disruption of democratic engagement by citizens which continues to haunt us till this day. Today, black and brown organizers remain under surveillance by federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies, who often violate basic civil rights. HR 2998 will not only shed light on past abuses but will also help us correct the injustices, still ongoing today,” said Sunni-Ali.

    Background

The Church Committee issued its final report, published in 1976. Its explosive findings resulted in a handful of reforms that were to protect citizens engaging in their Constitutionally guaranteed right to confront injustices that were embedded in national and local public policy. The report sought to never again subject law-abiding citizens to the violent and repressive tactics which had become common practice by law enforcement but were inconsistent with the rhetoric of the nation’s values.

Evidence of the program first came to light on March 8th,1971, when Vietnam War-era draft resisters broke into a Federal Office building in Media, Pennsylvania with the intention of destroying Selective Service records. While in the FBI building, they stumbled across documents related to COINTELPRO operations. This group, known as the Citizens’ Commission to Investigate the FBI, then made those records public, setting off a public controversy which led to the formation of the Church Committee, chaired by Senator Frank Church.

High Profile Party Leaders Resign from Green Party
Cite: “mob of dogmatic, self-righteous authoritarians” within ranks

Rich Whitney, former Gubernatirial Candidate, for Co-Chair, Illinois Green PartyPaula Bradshaw and Rich Whitney, active in building the Shawnee Green Party in Carbondale Illinois since at least 1996, have released their letter of resignation from the national, state and local Green Parties.  They tendered their resignation through official party channels in mid-June, 2021.  In their letter of resignation, released this week, they wrote.

”  .  .  .  recent actions and statements of the GPUS Accreditation Committee, Steering Committee, National Committee Forum Managers, National Committee and the Lavender Caucus — all taken in support of the Lavender Caucus’s proposal to suspend the affiliation of the Georgia Green Party – betray the democratic principles and precepts upon which the party was founded and evince a clear intention by the party majority to suppress dissent, elevate policy positions to the status of inviolable “principles,” and rule by decree rather than by democratic process. It has become increasingly apparent that the GPUS is determined to become a rigid dogmatic sect rather than a political party in which policy questions and interpretations of the Ten Key Values can be freely discussed and debated, and in which minority viewpoints are tolerated.”

Paula Bradshaw is a podcast producer and three time candidate for the U.S. Congress,  running with the nomination of the Illinois Green Party.  At the time of her resignation, she served as a Delegate to the Green National Committee for the Illinois Green Party.  Rich Whitney is an attorney who ran for Governor of Illinois taking 10% of the state-wide vote and leaving the Illinois Green Party with a state-wide ballot line.  Rich Whitney served until this resignation as the co-chair of the Illinois Green Party.

Their resignation is likely the highest profile public fallout to date within the U.S. Green Party resulting from the tactics of what their letter characterizes as “a mob of dogmatic, self-righteous authoritarians” within its ranks.

In their heavily footnoted 13 page letter, the Central Illinois grandparents who have devoted 25 years to building the Green party while raising their family, cite a broad range of offenses by various members of party leadership which they assert violate the founding values of the party, including:

    * suppression of Paula’s speech on the National Committee

    * suppression of speech by others on the National Committee and elsewhere

    * an unprecedented attack by the Steering Committee on a caucus of party activists

    * the suppression of real policy discussion on issues raised by gender ideology

    * a betrayal of core Green Party values, including: Grassroots Democracy, Feminism and Non-Violence

    * dogmatism and sectarianism within the party

    Their letter concludes:

“For the above reasons, we have come to the conclusion that the Green Party of the United States can no longer serve as a vehicle for social progress. There are still some good people in the ILGP and GPUS, but the national organization has been captured by a mob of dogmatic, self-righteous authoritarians and we can no longer support it. Therefore  .  .  .  , we resign from the Illinois Green Party.” (emphasis added)

Paula Bradshaw, three time Green Party candidate for U.S. CongressAt the heart of the conflict which led to this resignation has been the demands by the party’s Lavender Caucus that the Georgia Green Party be ejected from the national confederation.  These demands were in reaction to platform amendments adopted at its 2021 Bonaire Convention amending the Platform of the Georgia Green Party to endorse the Declaration on Women’s Sex-based Rights.  This Declaration has so far been signed by 18,616 signers from 137 countries and 347 organizations.  The Declaration reaffirms women and girls’ existing sex based rights under international law.  It challenges the discrimination women face as a result of changes in law and policy, replacing sex with gender identity as a protected class.  Critics claim that ‘gender identity’ is built on circular definitions and sexist stereotypes.  The Declaration and the Georgia party platform amendments challenge the medical “transitioning” of minor children, incapable of informed consent, known to result in sterility and other severe medical issues, ‘turning healthy bodies into life-long medical patients’ according to Georgia party officers.

At its meeting this past Sunday evening, the Steering Committee of the Green Party of the United States scheduled two weeks of debate starting on July 5th and a one week vote concluding at midnight July 25th, on GNC #1062.  The proposal is the result of a complaint by the Lavender Caucus, referred by the national party’s Accreditation Committee to the party’s National Committee.  Its adoption would revoke the accreditation of the Georgia Green Party as a member of the national party.

Dissenting voices on the proposal and the differences over policy which motivated it have been suppressed over the past year as documented in the Whitney-Bradshaw letter of resignation and elsewhere.

A report of a minority of the Accreditation Committee has been filed, but its publication is still pending.  That report takes issue with both the process and the findings of that committee’s majority.
